Syria reopens 1,600-year-old Byzantine church complex after restoration
After extensive restoration, the Deir Samaan Citadel, a remarkable ancient religious complex in northern Syria, has reopened its doors to visitors. Established in the fifth century, this site holds immense significance for Christian pilgrims. Having endured damage from natural calamities, conflict, and neglect, recent efforts aimed to repair visitor pathways and rehabilitate essential facilities. This reopening forms part of a larger initiative to encourage tourism in the Aleppo province.
