After 1,800 km dash, reserves Surya-Pramuthesh endure golden point heartbreak
A surprise call-up turned a Karnataka State Championships exit into a World Championships debut for mixed doubles team Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh. The Indian reserves flew 1,800 km to Delhi and pushed Turkey’s Emre Sonmez and Uasemen Bektas through a 73-minute thriller, losing despite seven match points. Their defeat featured the first golden point at the Worlds in 11 years.
