Florida used robot rabbits to hunt Burmese pythons threatening the Everglades
Florida is testing solar-powered robot rabbits to help locate invasive Burmese pythons in the Everglades. Developed by the South Florida Water Management District and University of Florida, the robotic decoys mimic prey using heat and scent while AI cameras detect approaching snakes. Officials can then alert trained removal agents, adding technology to Florida’s wider python control efforts.
