South Carolina pairs 102-acre nature preserve with 50 affordable homes
A new initiative on Johns Island will transform the Humbert Woods property for community benefit. The plan involves protecting 97 acres for conservation and using five acres for affordable housing. Sea Island Habitat for Humanity will build a 50-home community for local families earning below 80% of the area median income. Public access will include trails and amenities, fostering community interaction with nature.
