Australia built a $187,000 electric fence across Wild Horse Plain, but the real reason lies beneath one of its rarest alpine wetlands
A new electrified fence protects rare alpine wetlands in Kosciuszko National Park. This enclosure safeguards endangered sphagnum bogs and associated fens from wild horse impacts. Horse activity damages these vital peatland ecosystems and their stored carbon. The $187,000 project was funded by biodiversity offsets from Snowy 2.0.
