Sensex, Nifty sink further: Indices at six‑month lows; Rs 17.17 lakh crore wiped out in a month
The sell-off intensified on Monday. The BSE benchmark plunged 1,124.02 points, or 1.52%, to close at 72,771.72, marking its lowest closing level since March 30, 2026. The Nifty fell 360.25 points, or 1.56%, to finish at 22,780.25, its lowest level in nearly six months. The weakness was also visible beyond the frontline indices. The BSE SmallCap Select index fell 1.90%, while the MidCap Select index declined 1.39%.
