In October 2002, a sea wall breach in Essex transformed farmland into a coastal wetland, increasing saltmarsh areas. This project, supported by various environmental organizations, aimed to restore natural habitats and manage coastal erosion. Marine life flourished, and biodiversity increased rapidly in the newly flooded areas after the breach. Traditional farming on higher land continued alongside saltmarsh restoration, contributing to sustainable agriculture.
