Footballer quits after being sold to rival club for 15kg of pork sausage
In 2006, Romanian defender Marius Cioara moved from UT Arad to Regal Hornia for an unusual transfer fee: 15kg of pork sausages. Constant teasing over the deal reportedly drove him to retire the next day. He later moved to Spain to work on a farm. Similarly, Norwegian footballer Kenneth Kristiansen was transferred for 75kg of shrimp, matching his body weight.
