World’s heaviest building is slowly sinking every year in Bucharest
Bucharest’s grand Palace of the Parliament, commissioned by dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, looms large as a testament to an ambitious and controversial regime. The construction, initiated in 1984, involved the demolition of historic districts, displacing tens of thousands of citizens. Notably, it is the heaviest administrative building worldwide, although much of it remains unoccupied. The colossal structure's fate is precarious as it continues to sink slightly each year.
