South Africa’s Eastern Cape to plant 180 million spekbooms to create 11,000 jobs
Amazon is launching a restoration effort targeting over 50,000 hectares in South Africa by 2028. This project will plant 180 million spekboom cuttings and create approximately 11,000 jobs by 2030. Local communities are expected to benefit from over $500 million through various economic activities. Additionally, Amazon will purchase a significant amount of carbon removal credits generated by this initiative.
