Man marks 100th birthday of kidney donated by mom 48 years ago
Ray Vetuskey, 64, is marking the 100th birthday of the kidney his mother donated to him when he was 16. The transplant, performed in 1978, has survived far beyond the typical 15–20 years. Doctors expect the kidney to last for life, while Vetuskey remains Strong Memorial Hospital’s longest-surviving kidney transplant recipient.
