West Bengal bans liquor on Maha Ashtami, DJs during Durga Puja immersion
In preparation for Durga Puja 2026, West Bengal has implemented new regulations aimed at enhancing safety and decorum. On Maha Ashtami, which falls on October 19, the sale of liquor will be prohibited statewide. Additionally, DJ music will not be permitted throughout the festival and immersion processions. Organizers are instructed to ensure that roadways remain clear, and the highly anticipated Red Road Carnival has been cancelled.
