Banks cut CD borrowings by Rs 1.3 lakh crore in a month amid RBI liquidity boost
Mumbai: Indian banks have run down more than ₹1.3 lakh crore of certificates of deposit (CDs) in just a month, shrinking outstanding short-term market borrowings by 19% as liquidity created by the Reserve Bank of India's special foreign currency non-resident (bank) deposit window reduced their need for relatively expensive wholesale funding.Outstanding CDs fell to ₹5.60 lakh crore as of September 15 from about ₹6.90 lakh crore in mid-August, a decline of ₹1.306 lakh crore, according to RBI data…
