£10 Lowry painting kept 99 years sells for £805,200 at auction
An LS Lowry painting sold for over £805,000 at an auction after nearly a century in a family collection. Arthur Wallace, a British newspaper editor, purchased it for just £10 back in 1926. The painting, known as Going to the Mill, was created in 1925 and reflects Lowry's artistic focus on industrial life. The artwork highlights the transformation of its value from a lesser-known artist to a celebrated figure.
