India moves to resolve Scotch tariff dispute, assures 75% duty on bulk imports
The government is addressing a dispute regarding reduced import duties on bulk Scotch whisky imports. Liquor industry executives were assured that these imports qualify for the 75 percent duty reduction. The disagreement arose after tax officials questioned the eligibility of bulk shipments under the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. Major liquor companies, including Diageo and Pernod Ricard, have been affected by this dispute.
