Who are the Laestrygonians from 'The Odyssey'? Explained
In Christopher Nolan's cinematic adaptation, Laestrygonians from Greek mythology are reimagined. While Homer's epic illustrates them as colossal giants, the film presents them as more compact warriors. These fearsome man-eaters are the progeny of Laestrygon, a son of Poseidon. Odysseus' crew first meets these dangerous beings after their escape from the Cyclops, leading to destruction of their fleet and leaving just one ship for Odysseus’s perilous continuation.
