In 1977, Peter Straus bought a 64-acre ranch; 10 years later it transformed into National Park site
Peter Strauss purchased a 64-acre ranch in California in 1977, which had previously fallen into disrepair. He invested significantly in restoring the land and lived there until 1983, working to return it to its natural state. The site eventually became known as Peter Strauss Ranch Park, part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
