400-year-old Mughal portrait sold for £571,500, nearly 5 times estimate
A remarkable Mughal-era album page depicting a courtier has fetched an impressive £571,500 at a London auction. Attributed to the talented artist Manohar, and enhanced by calligraphy from Abdullah al-Husayni around 1608-09, this piece shattered expectations, far exceeding its pre-auction estimate of £80,000 to £120,000. As part of the Mary and Cheney Cowles Collection, the total sale reached an astounding £5.28 million, greatly surpassing projections.
