Bigger roads, flyovers and expressways but rain still brings cities to standstill
Indian cities face monsoon flooding despite extensive road construction projects. Heavy rainfall overwhelms drainage systems, causing widespread traffic disruptions and damage. Planned cities like Chandigarh also struggle with intense, short-duration rain events. Underlying urban systems and natural water channels have not kept pace with development. Addressing this requires improving drainage and preserving natural water bodies.
