Bharat Ratna scientist Prof CNR Rao gets SIR notice over name mismatch
Bharat Ratna recipient Prof C N R Rao faces a hearing to confirm his identity. His name was flagged during electoral roll revisions due to a spelling difference. The 2002 roll lists him as 'Prof C N R Rao' while the current one adds an 'f'. Economist Amartya Sen also experienced a similar spelling issue. However, Sen has been exempted from appearing in person for his verification.
